Escolares Brillantes (Brilliant students) is located in Pacasmayo, Peru. It’s a program created to help children whose parents don’t or can’t provide education and/or food for them. It is our desire to give our children a chance to thrive academically and developmentally as we provide what they lack from their home so that they have a better future.

The students go to the children’s center at 1:30 pm (after school) to eat lunch, do their homework, go to their workshops, have a devotional, eat dinner and then go home at 6:00 pm. Each member of our church adopts a family to visit once a week to teach them the Bible. The students also receive medical, psychological and nutritional help. We have  a parent meeting every two weeks for parental training and to update student progress. The program offers an holistic approach in helping to grow stronger families.

We currently has 11 children enrolled in the program, all of whom are being sponsored  on a monthly basis. Our desire is to increase this number to 100 as we are able to manage
the increase.  In Pacasmayo there are no shortage of eligible candidates for the program. The ability to grow the program will in part be determined by the ability to hire additional

staff to monitor, work with and supervise the children while they are in our care. Our biggest need is an activities director. Some of this work is being undertaken by volunteers, however, as  more children are added the need for qualified staff is paramount. Children are sponsored at the rate of $40 a month and this money is used to pay for food and supplies for the program. Donations are now being accepted to  help cover the cost of building maintenance, and to increase staffing so that we can grow the program.
